ITE and IEE reports of the building

The outer platform on which the building rests

This is a work made a decade ago in the neighboring island of Gran Canaria. Solve simple residential program consisting of three bedrooms space, room and service areas.

The aim of the commission was the extension and renovation of a small house that the owners had acquired with the intention of making it habitual residence. The project is based on three criteria:

1.- Define the new housing completely reformulating an existing building to absorb previous volumes.

The proposal leverages existing cubical, simple, to generate a new space richest. Be realized on the two buckets that had previously, varying their heights, textures and colors, and add a third volume cubic, stone paneling on the outside and inside in beech. The double-height void that is generated in this volume becomes the central space relationship on which gravitates the rest of the house. Industrial Arts, IBA Emscher Park

In Paul Engineer interesting conference given last Otaola Ubieta 21 May in the Demarcation of Tenerife, La Gomera and El Hierro the COAC, with the title "The transformation of the city", emphasis was placed on the role of local management in implementing the planning. This exposed several interventions where this aspect had been instrumental in its development. The transformation of Bilbao Bilbao 2000 and Zorrotzaurre, and the IBA Emscher Park in the Ruhr, were some of ellas.Esta last was undoubtedly the greatest interest awakened in me, quizás porque la transformación de Bilbao se me hace más cercana y familiar.

IBA Emscher Park is the name given to the metamorphosis of the old industrial region of the Ruhr, Germany, between 1989 and 1999. It creates a large territorial park involving more than 80 communities, in order to restore one of the most degraded landscapes across Europe. It became a symbol and a stimulus for urban change, economic, social y medioambiental.

The Land Art or art of landscape construction is very present in this intervention. The IBA convened several international competitions to select artworks to install in this unique landscape. This caused some controversy among the public to see how invested large amount of money to hire artists to design lighting obsolete industries or extravagant sculptures, en vez de utilizarlo en vivienda u otras necesidades sociales.

However, this commitment to art helped reinforce the innovative online initiative and gave the large park of a system of milestones in the landscape. Many of these milestones and sculptures are made with industrial artifacts rather, strengthening the connection with the area and its history. Abandoned industries also became new attractions for visitors; engineering works of yesteryear with high cultural value. For the realization of this wall were used 13.000 colored barrels. In addition to this installation documentation presented two works by the artists mentioned in other countries, "The Umbrellas" (Japan) and the covering of the Reichstag (Germany).

Project Youth House La Orotava

Street frontage future Lion Youth House

The CPPA technical team recently completed Implementation Project Youth House to the northern town of La Orotava promoted by the Youth Service, Education and Women of HE. Cabildo Insular de Tenerife.

The location at which it was decided to deploy the new Youth House of Orotava is located on a parcel located in the old town that has a building of heritage interest and important urban elements in your environment that give a functional advantage. It León street facades, near City Hall, Victoria and gardens which can also have a good relationship with the existing building Taoro.El Lyceum, traditional Canarian character and three heights in front, presenta un deterioro relevante del que es perfectamente recuperable la totalidad de la crujía de fachada.

The proposed technical solution will be, first, in rehabilitation and complete restoration of the facade of the first body since it retains all the elements of heritage value but rather dilapidated. Second, se ejecutarían dos volúmenes traseros de nueva construcción separados por un patio necesario por motivos de ventilación e iluminación aunque unidos en segunda planta por una pasarela de estructura metálica.

Among the uses proposed in the building include the Mediatheque, Office of Youth Information Service, Multipurpose Rooms, Workshop, Hall, Test Local, Estudio de Grabación y Gimnasio.
